The Library and Research Help Desk

The Library and Research Help Desk, located directly in front of the library's entrance, is the Library's primary service point for assistance and information. We're here for you!

RESEARCH ASSISTANCE

Your librarians are partners with your professors. We're happy to help with anything related to your research and class assignments - locating books, articles, and any other kind of information using the library catalog, databases, and internet.

Librarians are also available in their offices in RT 110 for research assistance or in-depth consultations with students and faculty. Drop in or give us a call at the desk at (216) 687-5300, text us at (216) 820-9691, use the chat box on this page, try our email form or Ask Your Personal Librarian to make an appointment or email us directly.

LIBRARY SERVICES

Borrow, renew, & return books & textbooks

Regular circulating materials may be checked out, renewed, and returned at the Library and Research Help Desk. Material may be checked out using your Viking Card, and renewed up to 4 times if no one else is requesting the item. More about borrowing books

The print textbook center is located behind the Library and Research Help Desk desk. Any CSU student with a valid Viking Card may borrow these textbooks to use for a 2-hour loan at no cost.

You can renew Library items in person, by phone: (216) 687-2479, or online through the View Your Own Record function in SCHOLAR, our online catalog. Materials may be returned directly to the Library and Research Help Desk or to the after-hours book drop outside the front entrance to Rhodes Tower.

Borrow keys, charging cables, headphones, dry erase markers and more

You may borrow keys to the Virginia McFrederick Study CenterGroup Project Rooms on the 1st floor, Quiet Study Rooms on the 2nd floor, charging cables and adapters for iPhones and Androids, and dry erase markers.

Stand-up Workstations

Pay a fine, rent a locker, send a FAX

Staff at the Library and Research Help Desk can also help you rent a Library locker, send a FAX, resolve an overdue fine, initiate a request to find missing books, or help direct you to other service points in the Library.

Pick up OhioLINK & Interlibrary Loan Materials

You may pick up your OhioLINK and InterLibrary Loan materials at the the Library and Research Help Desk. OhioLINK materials may be renewed up to six times as long as no one has placed a hold on the item. InterLibrary Loan renewals vary. See also, Borrowing Books & Other Materials.

Four quick look-up public workstations are available near the Library and Research Help Desk for quick Internet access.
