FRESHMEN ORIENTATION 4/13/94 University Orientation Course for all entering full-time freshmen approved. 5/27/98 Curriculum Comm.'s report on freshman orientation experience received. Recommendations amended and approved: 1. Freshman Orientation Program to be continued as part of the GenEd under semesters for a 4 yr experimental period with a comprehensive report of the outcomes after 3 yr. 2. Freshman Orientation Advisory Comm. will continue to develop and oversee the Freshman Orientation course. 3. Dean of Student Studies will present an evaluation and assessment plan to guide the collection of data to the Curriculum Comm. 4. Development of Freshman Orientation curriculum to focus on information literacy and acquisition of intellective skills. 5. Freshman Orientation Advisory Comm. & Curriculum Comm. should address a. replacement of S/U grading with letter grades b. expand mandatory requirement to include part-time students c. implementation of exemption process.
