EXPECTED OUTCOMES

               The research completed during my professional leave
         will result in a business statistics manual for use by
         students and practitioners.  It will hopefully aid students
         in their study of this difficult subject and improve their
         performance in class.
               The attrition rate in undergraduate statistics classes
         is higher than it should be.  It is the objective here to
         create a supplement that will help the marginal student pass
         both undergraduate and graduate statistics classes.  In
         addition, it could be used as a quick reference guide for
         practitioners such as graduate students and managers.
               The use of computer software will provide a realistic
         approach to an otherwise difficult subject.  Thus, one of the
         by-products of this manual will be to illustrate how
         computer software such as SAS and MYSTAT are used to
         facilitate the understanding of statistics.  Mini cases are
         provided in most chapters to demonstrate the application of
         these computer solutions.
