Brooks Page 2 Professional Leave Proposal Proiect Outline I propose to examine the various ways in which portfolio analysis can be designed and implemented in the College of Business Administration. Specifically, I intend to: (1) assemble and critically examine the available literature on teaching and student portfolios; (2) prepare models of teaching and student portfolios for the College's consideration; (3) present these model portfolios to administrators and faculty of the College and discuss their merits as assessment instruments; (4) revise the teaching and student portfolios in accordance with constructive comments and criticisms received in the presentations; (5) move for the College's approval and adoption of the teaching portfolio and the student portfolio as official instruments to assess instructional effectiveness and quality. Expected Outcomes/Evaluating Criteria It is anticipated that the College of Business Administration will approve and adopt the teaching portfolio and the student portfolio as evaluation instruments of teaching effectiveness. College administrators and faculty will make this decision based on pedagogical criteria. Sources of Support It is expected that some published literature on teaching and student portfolios will be purchased. I am requesting that the College of Business Administration authorize and appropriate moneys to make these purchases as needed.
