Criteria for Evaluation Both student evaluations, enrollment figure in the 1996-1997 and 1997-1998 Latin FLEX program, and the percentage of students completing the whole Latin FLEX sequence that continue to second-year Latin courses, will furnish data for evaluation of the Latin FLEX project. Willingness of another faculty member besides myself to use these materials will also demonstrate success. Complete data will not be available before Fall of 1988. Acceptance of articles for publication and of conference papers for presentation will demonstrate success of the research initiatives. I should be able to show acceptance of at least one conference paper for presentation no later than the end of Fall 1996; the long review time needed for refereed journals in the humanities means that it may be at least 1997-1998 before I can report any accepted articles. Additional Sources of Sup@rt During my two previous professional leaves, I have been able successfully to apply for admission to NEH Summer Seminars for College Teachers related in topic to my current research, and I hope to be able to do this again. I will, however, look sedulously for other means of support. There may will be grant support available for development of the Latin FLEX materials.
