UNIVERSITY RESEARCH COUNCIL 1/18/96 URC concensus: Since resources are limited, awards for start-up funding should be made to highly selected new faculty who show promise of garnering external support. Also that URC should also support existing faculty 1/25/96 Established Research Challenge Institutional Plan funding priorities: 1) new faculty start-up funding; 2) established faculty scholarship support; 3) "seed money" to assist in garnering external funding. Consensus: Better understanding of the strategic importance of faculty resaerch is needed on the part of the University community, as well as the general public. 2/1/96 URC reviewed Research Challenge Institutional Plan working draft. 4/13/10 Approved that in addition to the elected representative from the graduate faculty, the Associate Dean be a voting member on the URC. 5/4/10 Amended resolution of 4/13/10 to make the Associate Dean a non-voting member on the URC.
